It is with great sadness that we inform you that a valued Lifetime Member of the Can Too Community sadly lost his battle with cancer.
Peter Signorelli, husband of Awhina (another lifetime member), father of Zachary, Stella and Luca, passed away peacefully last Saturday from metastatic bowel cancer. Peter was larger than life, and the life and soul of any Can Too program. He was the joker of each program with his cheery, cheeky, lighthearted comments to all his fellow crew.
His motto was “I run for those that can’t and no matter how long it takes it doesn’t matter because I can run and there’s so many that can’t”. He was an inspiration to all within his pod as he ran like no one else and even managed to do a sprint finish- every time! Between his negotiating skills after each training run of gels, hydration powders and salt tablets, to tapping the seat on the harbour bridge every time he came back, Pete’s colourful nature will be missed.
The celebration of Pete’s life will be on Monday 24th April at 1130 at St Michael’s Catholic Church, 204 Longueville Road, Lane Cove.
Pete’s request, in lieu of flowers, is to donate to Can Too, in order to prevent people going through what he did. He has a Can Too Beyond page.
If you wish to donate, please do so here.
When Peter Signorelli’s wife, Awhina, asked him to do a 9km fun run, his response was: ‘you’re kidding me, I’m lucky if I can run 50 metres from the car to the front door if it’s raining'.
Despite never running before, he completed the Blackmores 9km Bridge Run in 2012 for Can Too Foundation, which raises money for cancer research and prevention.
He has since completed the Great Ocean Road 14km Run, Half Marathons in Sydney, two full Marathons in Queenstown, New Zealand, and more for the Foundation.

Peter is being cheered across the finish line of the Queenstown Marathon in 2017.
This was Peter's first Marathon for Can Too. He went on to complete six Marathons, several Half Marathons, and even a Sprint Distance Triathlon!
