Can Too Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Hresc as our new CEO. Lisa joins CanToo as a seasoned senior leader, with over 25 years of executive management experience across both commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With a rich background spanning roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), ABC Commercial, and The Benevolent Society, Lisa has led teams in critical areas such as business strategy, digital transformation, marketing, media, and communications, as well as fundraising and philanthropy.
Holding an Executive MBA and as a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Lisa also serves as a Board Member and Committee Chair at ChildFund Australia. Her experience in governance and strategy will be instrumental as she steps into her role at CanToo, overseeing the Foundation’s growth and commitment to the prevention and control of cancer and other disease through its dual mission of funding cancer research, and promoting community physical and mental well-being.
Lisa has been a dedicated runner for nearly a decade, having completed numerous events, including half marathons, triathlons, and, most recently, the Queenstown Marathon in 2023. Lisa, like many, has been impacted by cancer, having lost her sister to breast cancer and her mother is a cancer survivor; she advocates strongly for prevention and regular testing. Lisa shares a passion for health and well-being that aligns seamlessly with CanToo’s participants’ commitment to challenging themselves while making an impact.
“Joining Can Too Foundation is an absolute privilege,” said Lisa. “It’s an exciting time as the Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary, with nearly $35 million raised since 2005, 220 years of research funded and thousands of participants’ lives transformed; it’s a proud history, with further impact yet to be made. The lifelong stories of our participants conquering challenges, and the impact our researchers make, are truly inspiring and life-changing.” Lisa has also already signed up for CanToo’s half marathon program starting in January 2025 and is looking forward to enjoying the full CanToo experience.
Barbara King, Chair of the Can Too Foundation Board, expressed her enthusiasm for Lisa’s appointment: “After a robust and highly competitive recruitment process, the Board is delighted to welcome Lisa as CanToo’s new CEO. Lisa’s strong track record in people leadership, collaboration and revenue growth will stand the CanToo team in good stead as it continues working hard to strengthen participant experience, direct funding relationships with leading research institutions, and income diversification activities. As a people-focussed leader, the Board is confident she will embody and reinforce CanToo’s values to inspire, engage, support, and empower, as it pursues its mission.”
Lisa begins her role on 18 November 2024, and is eager to connect with CanToo's community and wider stakeholders in the coming weeks.
We are sure she will receive a warm CanToo welcome.
