Welcome to the CanToo Community! We’re a passionate group of fundraisers who’ve baked, BBQ’d and held brilliant events to raise over $33 million to better prevent, care and control cancer.
CanToo is a dual journey of fitness and fundraising so we’ve put together this webpage to make your fundraising experience a positive one.
Having trained over 22,000 participants to run, swim, bike and trek – we’ve got a few tips and tricks up our sleeve to help you meet your fundraising commitment.
Have you considered holding an event?
Events such as Bunnings BBQ's and movie nights can raise your fundraising commitment in one day/night!
Homemade Products
Selling homemade products is a great way to kick start your fundraising e.g. candles, bath salts or baked goods.
Bunnings BBQ
Fundraise by holding a BBQ at your local Bunnings. Do this with your friends/family or as a group with other members of your pod.
Just contact info@cantoo.org.au to receive an Authority to Fundraise Letter when applying for a Bunnings BBQ.
Trivia Night
Hold a trivia night with your friends and family. You could also hold a raffle at the same event to encourage extra donations.
Barefoot Bowls
Holding a barefoot bowls event is a fun way to gather your friends and family together to raise funds for Can Too.
Clothes Swap
Joining clothes swaps events is another unique way to raise funds for your program. Do this with a group of friends or other members of your pod to raise the money together.
Ask For Donations For Your Birthday
Use Facebook as a tool to run a birthday fundraiser instead of asking for gifts this year. Select Can Too as the charity you would like to support and we can allocate this to your fundraising page.
Dog Bandanas
One creative Can Tooer created orange dog bandanas to sell to Can Too participants and spectators for their fundraising.
Raffle
Run a raffle as part of your fundraising for Can Too. Ask friends and family for donations of gifts but also reach out to businesses in your community to ask for donations of prizes for your raffle.
Play for Purpose is another great tool to utilise if you are considering setting up a raffle. Check out their website or reach out to us for more information.
Paint and Sip
One of our Can Too participants organised a Paint and Sip experience in exhange for donations from friends and family.
Workplace Morning Tea
Buy or bake goods for a morning tea at your workplace and ask for donations from your colleagues in exchange for the baked goods.
Movie Night
Host a movie night for your friends and family in exchange for a donation to your fundraising page.
Workplace Giving
Ask your workplace if they have a matched giving program. Some workplaces are able to match donations that are made to charities by their employees.
Poker Night
Host a poker night with your friends and family as your fundraising event. You could combine this with a raffle, movie night or trivia event.
Wine Tasting
Host a wine tasting event at home with your friends or your other pod members. Ask for donations to join in on the tasting or combine this with a raffle or trivia night.
Email Signature
Add a link to your fundraising page in your email signature. This is an easy way to share your fundraising page with others at work.
Guessing Game
Guess how many jelly beans are in the jar, guess how many km I will run/swim during my training for this program or guess how heavy my dog is.
$10 for one guess, $20 for three guesses and $50 for seven guesses.
Backyard Olympics
Host a games day in your own backyard or neighbourhood park, invite all your friends and have a lot of fun.
Charge an entry fee per person and you’re well on your way to achieving your fundraising goals.
