Jo can oceanswim!

Rare Yellow-Belly in Orange Hat Spotted off Shelley Beach.

Yup that’s me.  - “Female 52 year old usually known for odd spluttering, splashing and and other panic-stricken, hyperventilating behaviours in the ocean has been spotted in a very special orange "Can-Too" hat swimming off Shelley Beach!”

Yellow-Bellied Jo has volunteered to join the amazing Can-Too foundation team ( and undergo ocean exposure therapy) in a Charity 1km ocean swim in February. Why? It seemed one of those great ideas at the time to push beyond the safe comfort zone (Safe Land?) where I’ve been languishing for far too long.  Driven by the impetus to move, challenge myself and support a great cause.

14 weeks of guided, mentored training sometimes with handholding for those panic stricken moments, will culminate in a small leap for Jo-Kind at an organised ocean swim at either Palm Beach or Bondi! 

I’ve yet to identify the lesser of the evil chop and swell. 

 Please consider supporting my very monumental effort and donate a little to Can-Too, the early stage cancer research charity. The foundation funds new researchers with innovative ideas to help get their research off the ground.  It’s estimated 1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will experience cancer in their lifetime and that is a horrifying statistic. I will do my bit as small as it may be. And the least we can do for ourselves is get fitter.

The support crew and other team of Can-Too swimmers are quite the motivating bunch. No swimmer left to flounder and perish!
