Our Why

Harry and I have (somewhat-nervously) signed ourselves up for a 10-week training and fundraising program with Can Too Foundation.

Over the next 10 weeks, we will be training for a 2.5 KM Ocean Swim to be completed on Sunday 28 April in South Maroubra. Harry and I are completely new to ocean swimming, so we are diving (quite literally) outside of our comfort zones. Not only are we keen for a new challenge, but it's for an incredible cause.

Can Too provides a wide range of professionally coached training programs that involve raising funds to support innovative, early career cancer researchers who may not otherwise contribute to research breakthroughs.

Harry and I feel incredibly privileged to be strong and healthy enough to challenge ourselves physically in a training program like this. The ocean is miraculous, but it’s immensely powerful, unpredictable and dangerous; we have quickly learned that going out there takes a great deal of courage. However, we constantly feel inspired by our coaches, our fellow pod members, and of course the bravery of loved ones who have conquered much scarier things throughout their battle(s) with cancer. They’re the real warriors.

Harry and I are responsible for raising $2,000 for young cancer researchers. Whether it’s $5 or $100, every bit counts and we greatly appreciate your support.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This means that potentially someone we love may have to battle cancer, and that's a statistic that needs to change.

So I asked myself, "what can I do to help?" That's where the Can Too Foundation came in! Can Too provides professionally coached training programs for participants of any fitness level to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation has trained over 18,000 participants and raised over $25,000,000 to invest in over 200 one-year cancer research grants.
