I'm training and fundraising for cancer research with Can Too
I am training for an open water swimming event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.
Last year I couldn't swim. I could "not drown" but competitive swimming or even swimming for exercise were defiantly not on my abilities list. Then I found Can Too and undertook a 12 week ocean swimming training program. Not only did the expert coaches volunteer their time and effort to teach me to swim but on Australia Day 2015 I competed in a 1km ocean swimming event at Williamstown, Victoria!! As well as the adrenalin high I received from competing that day, I also managed to raise almost $1,300 for cancer research!! Now I'm hooked and I hope to raise another $500.00 over the next few months to support Australian researchers doing something much harder than swimming in the ocean - trying to cure cancer.
This year my sights are set on the 1.2km MMAD Swim at Mt Martha on Australia Day 2016.
Thank you for supporting me!
You guys rock!
