Sydney Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 21km Sydney 2015

Update

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in a while so thought I would update you all. This weekend we ran 14kms! We ran from Centennial Park, along Old South Head Rd, through Bellevue Hill, down to Rose Bay and back. My training session was also backed up by walking the City 2 Surf with Dad. It was a great day, although I'm feeling it today (as expected). I'm keeping up the streches and have booked in for a deep tissue massage to (hopefully) mitigate any potenital issues. I am feeling much fitter which is great, although a 21km race still seems very (very) long. Next weekend is 16kms so I'm mentally preparing for that one...

The jam making is plodding along well and my order list is growing by the minute! I'll post some photos to show everyone what I have been doing! Tom has tasted both raspberry and strawberry and the feedback has been great. Let me know if you would like to place other orders! Currently I have jars of:

- raspberry jam

- strawberry jam

- preserved lemons.

I will also be making another batch of marmalade, more strawberry jam and salted caramel too. I am currently asking for a minumum donation of $15 per jar.

Thanks again for your support!

Latest update 11 July 2015

So today I ran 10km with the Can Too team! It was tough but we managed to pull through. The course today started at Centennial Park, down Ocean Street and along New South Head Road to Rose Bay and back. 10km is the longest I've ever run so it is was a great achievement! Tom and I then went to Ashfield to pick up some good fruit to make marmalade! Along the way we stopped off for some delicious noodles. Tomorrow I'm planning on making as many jars as I can. Hopefully this will help with my fundraising! A big thank you to those who have sponsored me so far!

Raspberry jam for CanToo

I made raspberry jam today to help with fundraising! My plan is to sell jam, marmalade and other goodies to help me reach my fundraising goal. I've put a photo up on my photo gallery so check it out!

First week of training down!

For my first post, I was keen to tell you that I've made it through Week 1 of training!

This week we ran over 3km around E.S Marks Athletic Field and completed a 4km run on Saturday. It was tough work, although I'm super stoked to know I can run 4km! I've also been hitting up the gym for a bit of cross training and pilates as per the CanToo program.

To help with fundraising, I'll be making delicious jams and spreads for family and friends. Bulk jars were bought over the weekend and I'm in the process of preparing the raspberries for jam making tomorrow. Yum!

I'm training with Can Too for Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon!

I am training for an event with Can Too, a health promotion organisation that engages and inspires individuals and the community to achieve personal health, wellbeing and altruistic goals.

Beginners and experienced athletes alike are given professional coaching as part of a team to run or swim in endurance events- including 10km, half-marathon and marathon runs; as well as ocean swims and triathlons.

In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care and control of cancer. In 2014, our Can Too community has supported 19 early career researchers through Cure Cancer Australia.

Thank you for supporting me!

‘It’s so much fun and I can’t believe I’m going to achieve this goal that I never thought possible. A great program and team support is making it possible. You Can Too!’

Thank you to my Sponsors
