Dad came 2nd in the 35+ age group in a triathlon in Singleton around 1995. Dad died of stomach cancer a couple of years later at the age of 55.

My father, Peter Silcock, had run a few marathons and stepped up to join my brother on a few triathlons.
No more excuses!
Thursday 15th Jan
This Sunday I am going to compete in my FIRST triathlon AND follow it up with a SECOND event in April. Both events are Sprint distance races (750 m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) held in Kurnell.
My fascination with triathlon began 20years ago when I watched my big brother train and compete when we were both still living at home. I was fairly fit back then and he encouraged me to have a go, but I told myself I was too busy (living at home with no children!). Physical limitations didn’t hold me back, mental limitations did.
I am sending you this email to let you know that it is 100% because of Can Too that I am competing this summer. Ten years of watching Can Too participants, their extraordinary collective spirit, has inspired me to commit to my challenge. To prepare the best I can (imperfectly) and have a go.
