You've Got Mail!

10 Jul 2017

We know first-hand how hard it can be to ask your friends, family, and colleagues for money to support your Can Too fundraising commitment. We started as Can Too fundraisers, we understand how daunting it can be to put yourself out there for charity. What if people don’t respond?

Part of your personal transformation is facing your fears. But you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why we’ve compiled the following emails to ensure your fundraising journey is a positive experience.

First-time participant email to your co-workers:

Hi Team,

As you probably know (due to my lack of attendance at Friday Night Drinks!), I’ve started training for my FIRST [insert program] with Can Too Foundation.

Can Too Foundation are training me to reach my fitness goal, but I also have a fundraising journey. The money I raise will assist the Can Too Foundation to support young and innovative Australian cancer researchers who might find the next breakthrough that could save the life of one of our friends or family. With 1 in 3 people predicted to battle cancer at some stage in their life, together we need to do our part to ensure that someday, we will have a cancer-free society.

Over the next 14 weeks, I’ll be bringing in cakes and chocolates to aid with my fundraising, but you can support me in a significant way, directly on my personal fundraising page: [enter your page here]

Alternatively, if you’d like to join me and give up every Wednesday night and Saturday morning for the next 14 weeks there’s still time to sign up at www.cantoo.org.au!

Kind regards,

Repeat participant email to co-workers:

Hi Team,

Well, it’s that time of year again! I’m doing my part for cancer research and have joined Can Too Foundation to train for [insert program].

Thanks to your generous support over the years I’ve managed to raise $XXX for cancer research and prevention. I’m here again to ask if you can dig deep and help me conquer my new fundraising commitment.

The money I raise will assist the Can Too Foundation to support young and innovative Australian cancer researchers, who might find the next breakthrough that could save the life of one of our friends or family. With 1 in 3 people predicted to battle cancer at some stage in their life, it’s time to do our part to ensure that someday we will have a cancer-free society. Together we can make a difference, and I’m counting on you to support me again at [fundraising page]

Can’t make a donation this time around? I’ll be hosting a trivia night on [date] and would love to see you there! I’ll also be putting on my chef's apron to supply the office with baked goods for gold coin donations. You can buy tix at [humanitix link].

Kind regards,

Email to the family:

Dear family,

Over the years you’ve supported me through the good times and the bad, the questionable haircuts and my goth/punk/rebel phase (thanks for continuing to bring that up, Mum) all out of the kindness of your hearts!

As many of you know, I’ve started training with Can Too Foundation for the [program]! Crazy, I know. But this time around I’m asking for a different kind of support, in addition to your emotional support!

Along with my physical journey, I also have a fundraising journey to complete. The money I raise will assist the Can Too Foundation to support young and innovative Australian cancer researchers. These are the researchers who may well find the next breakthrough that could save the lives of thousands of Australians, but with statistics predicting 1 in 3 people will face cancer in their lifetime, it could save one of our lives as well.

Please support me with a donation at [fundraising page].

I completely understand if you can’t make a donation this time around, but I’d love it if you could donate some time and help me out with my fundraising BBQ on at [time]. You can check it out at [Facbeook event].

Much love,
