I'm supporting cancer research and prevention with Can Too Foundation.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This means that potentially someone we love may have to battle cancer, and that's a statistic that needs to change.
Over the past decade, I've raised over $6,000 through six Can Too Swim and Run programs. After completing the ocean surf ski paddling in 2023, I discovered what a wonderful sport it is, especially the beauty of being on the water for sunrise. It’s also challenging, so what better way to continue improving my paddling technique (and remounting the ski when I fall off!) than by training for another 10km event and once again raising money to support cancer research.
We likely all know someone who has experienced cancer, and this time around feels a little more personal for me. Having supported my sister last year as she underwent treatment for triple negative breast cancer, we were grateful she was able to access particular treatment through an access program, now standard of care for those with the same type of cancer. This highlights the importance of continued research, making these advanced treatments possible.
Three times a week I will now start my day down on the water, training for a 10km surf ski event in December. While I know what to expect from the training this time around, I know it will still be challenging - thankfully this is something that I enjoy! Most of all, I’m excited to do this again with the wonderful Can Too community and raise money for cancer research.
Can Too provides professionally coached training programs for participants of any fitness level to run, swim and cycle their way to a healthier lifestyle and a cancer-free world.
In return, I am raising valuable funds that go towards innovation in the prevention, care, and control of cancer. Since 2005, Can Too Foundation has trained over 22,000 participants and raised over $30,000,000 to invest in over 150 cancer research grants.
